There are six general areas in forensics. There is a medical examiner, a crime lab analyst, a crime scene examiner, and a forensic engineer. determining which one you want can be difficult, but it's easier to talk to someone who does that job. They can tell you several things about the job. Coroner: This is the highest pay but you must be able to open bodies. You also have to attend 7+ years of college. They also have uncertain working hours. We will never know when they work and they will be called every time. You must acquire a medical degree. Crime Lab Analyst: You get fairly good pay and work mostly outdoors. You also do a lot of DNA work, such as blood tests. The best title overall is chemistry. You must have some degrees for this job. It's a lot of work. Forensic Engineer: You deal with car accidents, fire investigations, and wrongful injury cases. An engineering degree is required. It's a lot of work, you never know your schedule, it changes every day. Crime Scene Examiner: You will work whenever a crime occurs. Your schedule will be crazy. You will always be called at work, a crime happens almost every 5 seconds around the world. That's a lot of crime. You also work day and night, and if you are called to work on a public holiday you have to go at any cost, you can't say no, otherwise you might lose your job. You're also dealing with dead bodies and major deaths, and the pay isn't all that great. I chose this topic because I watched NCIS with my mother since I was little and it became my favorite show. I like what they do, I know most of their shows are military, marine or coast guard related, but it's still very interesting. It's something I can see myself doing. I haven't met a person who... middle of paper... a forensic scientist works really strange hours. Some work until the case is closed. It could take a long time. Get good pay for it. And you learn something new every day. That would definitely be something I would do. There are a couple of colleges and universities that are great to go to when you want to pursue forensics. there are the University at Albany, the University of Maryland, the University of Cincinnati, Scottsdale Community College, Prince George Community College, and New River Community College. My college choice isn't there. I want to go to UofM. They have some good systems though.
