IntroductionDoes black architecture exist? If so, why has it been ignored for so many centuries? I will defend African-American architecture by discussing many black architects from the past to the present. I will display and discuss their architectural work describing what it looked like, the year it was built, and whether it is still standing today. I think we all know that black architects exist today, but centuries ago it was as if they didn't exist because until recently they were never recognized for their hard work. I didn't realize that African American architecture was almost non-existent until I started this research, which I couldn't believe anyone ever thought that there weren't talented black architects with great minds to build incredible works of art called architecture. I will show myself, my class, and my family that African-American/Black architecture definitely existed centuries ago and still exists today. Literature Review Does Black Architecture Exist? I want to be more knowledgeable about my culture of African American architects and their amazing architectural designs.
