Assignment 3Audience Perception and MeaningBeyoncé Knowles' 2006 Hit Song - Irreplaceable [from the album -B'Day]The songs and videos of popular R&B artists Beyoncé Knowles have a great influence on young women, especially teenagers, who tend to incorporate lyrical meaning into their personal lives. Although internationally, this diva, as she often calls herself, has many critics, millions of fans adore her for her energetic and raunchy videos, and her live performances, her sense of style and, above all, the emancipation that women hear from his songs. In this essay we will explain how people (the public) interpret the official video, lyrics and performance of the hit song – Irreplaceable. Our group, after analyzing in-depth interviews with three people (two women and one man), about the video, will incorporate some media reception studies discussed in class to explain how they attribute different meanings to the same song. the three interviewees defined themselves as fans of the Grammy-winning singer, saying they loved her voice. Henry Jenkins described a fan as a person, who was not a regular viewer of a particular program, but translated that viewing into some kind of cultural activity, sharing feelings and thoughts about the content of the program with friends, joining a community of others fan. who share common interests. The three interviewees admitted that they are not part of any community with other Beyoncé fans. Instead, two of them said they simply liked the music, but weren't "die-hard" fans, while the third interviewee said he was "not really" a fan, even though he really liked another of her songs. While Beyoncé may be a sexually attractive woman, which may explain her male audience, the lyrical content of Irreplaceable is empowering to women. As such, women may be appeased by the lyrical content while men may be thrilled by the video's imagery. The interviewee reveals his approval of the Pink Panther music video and in this video Beyoncé puts on a raunchy performance in revealing clothing.
