Topic > AMP Canada Case Study - 2642

The purpose of this Project Management Plan (PMP) is to define the approach to be taken by the AMP Canada Case Study Implementing SAP in 1 Year with Vendor - SAP Business Partner . The problems identified were: - The team implementing the new system had to meet both functional and systematic requirements, thus influencing the implementation of the new system - Staff were not well trained on the new system - User requirements were not taken into account affecting purchase orders, poor inventory management, production and finance departments have not been integrated. This also required a lot of recoding, thus costing AMP Canada further investment. The database was not central if it concerned customer orders. AMP Canada's procurement plan objectives for this SAP implementation project are: • Select a vendor to migrate the current JBA system to SAP with existing business processes. • Determine how to proceed based on vendor timelines and costs .• Establish a formal agreement that provides AMP Canada certainty regarding service level agreements and fixed pricing for the chosen implementation.• Establish a relationship with the vendor who is committed to providing the service. Maher (1999) states that different packages on the market have different strengths in different areas, it is important for the customer to recognize this and choose the package with the appropriate strengths. Only when top management has reached a consensus on what the company requires should the review and selection of the package begin. For this project, a Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued to solicit proposals from various SAP business partner vendors describing how it will meet the funding requirements, deadline, and implementation cost. To analyze the issues with the global component of this project, we discuss the following. Global factors lead to too many issues addressed while designing the above plans. Communication and staffing are major problem areas due to cultural differences in each region and time zones when organizing meetings. Staffing issues are that during this project it is important to keep all staff as SAP is such a hot market, staff can move quickly. In terms of the whole project, the main issues faced were no changes to the project schedule as it is not flexible and the project needs to be completed within 1 year and the scope needs to be supported and not changed, and it was difficult find a supplier who could meet these criteria. As discussed, this project and its requirements highlight areas where future work/implemented improvements can be made to augment the project and outcome. The expected time frame for this project is something that can be changed to provide a full implementation rather than a "vanilla feature" that will later need to be changed. Another factor to consider to ensure a complete implementation would be the capital investment used for this project as it needs to be overcome
