The book Jobs in America, edited by David Ramm, is a series of articles put together by several authors describing many different aspects of jobs in America. He describes the importance of good jobs, of education tied to wages, of population size for a market, of the importance of people wanting to be their own boss, of different classes in America, of diversity in the workplace work, of gender differences, of the biggest financial decision known as retirement. , as well as many other factors. This book covers virtually all aspects of working in America. It provides many different perspectives from different authors in the United States on the factors that influence and are related to work in America. Work is very important wherever you go. Working is the only way to ensure that a person has food on the table and a place to live. In some respects, work is more than just a job. In fact, a job defines a person socially and economically. This book is about the many different ways that work meets our needs. The first chapter describes job growth in America. This particular article is written by Christopher H. Wheeler and examines the life of the American worker. We talk about issues related to wages, salaries, benefits, as well as outsourcing and the age of the workplace. Job growth is very important to America and is everyone's concern. Wheeler states that “job growth is at the top of the issues Americans find important” (p. 50). There are over “200 different industries” that include jobs such as: “business management and consulting that pays about $26.04 an hour, computers and data processing that pays $26.10 an hour, investment firms in commodity stocks that pay $26.22,” and there is the other end of the…half of the card…choose not to work at all, and be able to travel the world and take vacations as much as they want .
