In 2008 the UN declared a global food stability crisis, but what exactly is food stability? As Congress moves into the next appropriations cycle for the 2005-06 federal budget, it is important to tell members of Congress – both senators and representatives – how important farm-to-school programs are to the health of children and the well-being of farmers. A few million dollars a year for the next five years would allow literally hundreds of school districts, especially those in the poorest areas of the country, to launch farm-to-school programs.
