Jay Chou and his Chinese pop style Entering the new century, a name came to the ears of the people of mainland China, Jay Chou. Jay is a famous Taiwanese musician, whose songs have had a significant impact on the new generation over the past twelve years around the world. From young to old, many people can sing his popular songs, or can hum, whistle at least some parts of Jay's songs. According to official statistics, Jay has produced his eleven albums which have sold an incredible record of 28746167 copies in ten years, which must attribute this success to his millions of fans (Fung). This article therefore discusses three topics: the new Chinese element, or Chou style, that Jay creates in his pop songs, the fusion of traditional Chinese instruments and piano, and emotional imagery and lyrics in his pop songs. These three factors establish Chou's musical style and influence the work of other musicians in recent years. The new theme also leads the modern world to think about the best way to blend traditional Chinese music and Western classical music, so as to give a great impression of the scene in the poems. As a pioneer, Jay is the first musician to successfully merge traditional Chinese style with Western classical and pop music, and this unique Chou style profoundly influences the future works of other musicians. Qinghuaci, or Blue and White Porcelain, has to be the pinnacle of all his songs that synthesize elements of Chinese music. In this song, Jay applies the pentatonic scale which only has five notes per octave. Ancient Chinese musicians compose their folk music in the pentatonic scale, while Jay makes Qinghuaci involve distinct Chinese characteristics. The fundamental tones provide the audience with elegant, natural and hazy perspectives. At the end...... half of the paper...... and use of poetic texts. Jay's creative Chinese-style pop music attracts millions of people around the world, because many audiences appreciate simpler and more graceful music in modern times, so much so that more musicians emerge who prefer to apply Chinese elements in their songs. This new Chinese theme, created by Jay Chou, will develop and merge into Western music in the future. Works Cited Fung, Anthony. "Western Style, Chinese Pop: Jay Chou's Rap and Hip-Hop in China."
