At first Yalom says he didn't believe Dave would participate in the group and was surprised when he showed up. Therefore I believe Yalom should have kept Dave in individual therapy. I also think Yalom knew this too, from my personal interpretation of many statements he makes throughout the case. Yalom also violated ethical standard 1.04 regarding social worker competence (National Association of Social Workers, 2008). I feel like he violated it because he wasn't addressing his issues appropriately and that's what we expect our clients to do on a daily basis. I also believe that Dave should have been more involved in his treatment plan and that if he had been, then Dave would have required individual therapy instead and could have been more
