IntroductionThe media is one of the most powerful tools in people's lives, as it is used by many as a means of providing useful information to a diverse audience. The media landscape has undergone notable developments in recent years. Valuable information about various cultural groups is often conveyed through appropriate media, and it is interesting to note that blogs are currently being used as the best medium for celebrity gossip. Celebrity blogs are usually crowded with readers who would like to know more about their favorite superstars. Entries on several celebrity gossip blogs are often accompanied by paparazzi photos which are usually intended to trigger a stream of comments based on readers' observations, enthusiasm and criticism. Celebrity blogs typically provide in-depth insight into three important theoretical perspectives in sociology. This article will analyze data obtained from five selected celebrity gossip blogs, such as Celebitchy, Yahoo Celebrity, The Huffington Post, Time, and SheKnows. The analysis will draw on theoretical perspectives of celebrity gossip, particularly conflict theory. For example, it will address inequalities that exist in gossip blogs based on race, gender, class or sexual inequalities. Furthermore, it will identify the interests of those who are served by blogs as well as those who are exploited or suffer as a result of blog publishing. Additionally, popular celebrity gossip blogs offer marketers the best opportunity to reach their target market segments. A sense of humor, as well as criticism associated with readers' comments, often ruin the public image of the affected celebrities, especially if they are offensive.
