INTRODUCTION. “Handbook of E – Learning and Social Networking: Resources for Higher Education” by Frank Rennie and Tara Morrison, is a great book for guiding student learning, especially at a higher level. It highlights how social networks and technology as a whole can be used to improve student learning and how they can actually reduce teachers' workload. It does this by primarily considering what students vitally need for learning. In the introductory part, the book states: "To do this, however, we must understand what we really want students to learn and offer students flexible opportunities to learn according to their preferred styles." This manual can be considered as a theoretical piece that proposes ideas and supports them with relevant examples and mentions different ways through which these ideas can be realized. The book advocates engaging social networks as a learning tool. It offers the various network systems that can be adopted in learning, including video conferencing, the use of computers including the use of Facebook and Twitter, and even the use of television in learning. Furthermore, Frank and Tara highlight this in the preface note on online learning: “We firmly believe that the thoughtful and efficient use of educational technology can provide an experience at least as good as 'traditional' in-person education – and in many cases it can provide a learning experience for students.” This manual clearly shows its purpose in the early stages of its writing. In the preface note, Frank and Tara note that there has been, of course, an explosion of new applications, particularly in terms of social networking, but... middle of paper... in careers that may not necessarily require social networking such as carpentry and masonry. Frank and Tara's handbook on e-learning and social networking will be a great book for students who want to improve their learning techniques. I would therefore like to advocate for my classmate to embrace the idea well expressed in this text. This is due to the numerous advantages that the type of learning via social networking brings with it. These include sharing ideas with other students from other parts of the world and getting their opinion on the same issue. CONCLUSION. The quality of education is undoubtedly bound to be better if the use of ICT is adopted in schools. The use of the Internet greatly facilitates learning as students are able to obtain a lot of information on different topics when they access the World Wide Web.
