A newspaper article titled "Retailers Ask: Where Have the Teenagers Gone?" focused on one of the problems. Elizabeth Harris of the New York Times interviewed teenagers who shopped at A&F and asked them what they think when it comes to shopping at Abercrombie. One teenager responded, “when I think about people who shop at Abercrombie, I think it's more their parents who shop for them” (Harris). This raised alarm bells for me because when I was about 14 or 15, if you weren't wearing an Abercrombie shirt or a pair of the company's pants, you weren't considered "cool." It's like everyone in high school wore an Abercrombie, Hollister, or Gilly Hicks shirt; so hearing a teenager say this shows that once attracted to the traditional store for teenagers it is obviously a difficult time
