Scope OverviewDunamis Starr and his project team are planning the Home Coming Parade in Colorado Springs to celebrate the return of our troops from Iraq. The team must secure funding for the project and will organize, execute and supervise all aspects of the parade. The city's transportation department donated 40 buses that will be used to transport the 6,000 military personnel to the parade. The city has provided 25-30 volunteers and the project team will coordinate their activities. Working with stakeholders from each military branch, the project team will meet regularly with this management committee to ensure success. The project team is working with local vendors to provide free lunches to soldiers and their immediate families, and the Colorado Symphony will provide the entertainment. In exchange, each seller will be provided with two advertising banners for their services. The team will work with local police to ensure the safety, security and parking of buses, and will work with local firefighters and paramedics to ensure efficient rescue locations and to provide water to prevent dehydration. The scope includes working with city engineers to monitor traffic lights and relay road closures and alternative routes around the city. The Assistant City Manager will assist in communication throughout the project life cycle. The organization of the parade will be handled by the project team. Business Case This parade offers a great opportunity to strengthen the image of Colorado Springs. By welcoming home our troops who served in Iraq, we will demonstrate our patriotism while providing a business vision for our city and our businesses. We will provide a warm welcome to our troops and the commercial and non-communicative parade... middle of paper... we have a designated cleanup crew of 20 paid workers and 25-30 volunteers. This crew will restore the park and parade route to pristine condition. Some of the risks we have identified include: rain – we will delay the parade as needed and/or provide ponchos, bus breakdown, flat tire – we have contracted Greyhound as a contingency plan and arranged for an express tire change and roadside assistance service , and portable restrooms aren't coming: We've reached out to local businesses to open their restrooms to the public during the parade. We will also have local television and radio stations to record and broadcast this parade ceremony live. We are confident in our ability to make this occasion memorable and intend to inspire the citizens of Colorado Springs, honor our troops, and profile the patriotic image of your great city (Kloppenborg, 2013, p.. 88).
