The career I wish to specialize in is Agricultural Economics and Management. The reason why I want to specialize in Agricultural Economics is because agriculture is an important aspect of every society for its social, economic and environmental growth. I first heard about this career from my agricultural counselors, on the farm at Westminster High School, when I was shown a list of jobs and careers involving agriculture. I was interested in this career because I have a general interest in agriculture and farming, which is a fundamental part of human life, and being able to pursue a career involved in agriculture is an amazing opportunity. The responsibilities of an Agricultural Entrepreneur Business Manager is to "ensure that the production and distribution of produce, grains or livestock comply with government and environmental regulations at the best rate of profit" (Education Portal 1). The tasks when working in the agricultural and management sector are: "supervise agricultural production, select seeds for the planting season and purchase agricultural equipment, rent land from a landowner and manage it as a farmer, manage the daily activities of one or more more farms, ranches or businesses, but primarily their duty is to focus on the business aspects of managing distant places” (Bureau of Labor Statistics 1). Being in Ag. Business and Management leads to many connections with other professions such as: “consulting on farm/home business management, agricultural and food scientist, professor of agriculture, director of international marketing, soil conservationist, livestock handler, beekeeper, dairy farmer, aquaculturist, and a stockbroker and financial services sales agent ” (Montana 1).
