As shown in the story, Beowulf is not afraid of death anyway. He believes that if he were to die, it would be his destiny to die that way. Hrothgar, on the other hand, was worried about the brave warrior. “… until man in his recklessness / forgets that for him all this will never end. / Indulge his desires” (1732). Actually, he had had a good idea to warn Beowulf about this. Knowing Beowulf's strength and willingness to charge into battle, Hrothgar warns him to “beware of that trap.
