Human resources are the largest and most important resource in any organization. This is because without human resources an organization cannot achieve its goals. An organization must develop a labor pool so as to avoid low labor turnover. For a company or organization to develop a labor pool, it must strategically manage human resources. Strategic human resource management involves managing people with the goal of future direction. It is oriented towards matching human resources with the future needs of the organization. The process is a determinant of employee behavior in their effort to formulate and implement a company's strategic needs (Carter McNamara, 2009). The process aims to motivate staff. This is achieved through the provision of fair and equitable reward programs. Rewards act as a form of motivation for an organization's employees. Highly paid employees are assumed to be highly motivated. Rewards are believed to be directly proportional to motivation. Proper strategic human resource management gives the organization a competitive advantage over competitors (Strategic-human-resource.com, 2010). In the normal business environment, there are changes due to changes in business factors. Organizations should therefore always plan to adapt to changes so as to remain relevant in their operations. Change management is one of the aspects that determine how long an organization remains operational and relevant in the industry in which it operates (Carter McNamara, 2009). Changes arise due to changes in technology. Other changes that might occur in an organization are strategic change, missional change, operational change, and attitude change… halfway through the paper… significantly upgrade their capabilities without supervision. Organizations need the department responsible for human resource management to operate effectively and avoid conflicts of interest (Strategic-human-resource-management.com, 2010). Therefore, in order for employee development and therefore the results obtained to be achieved, the human resources department must be active.
