Topic > Starbucks Shared Values - 717

The book states that shared values lead to "better products, less waste, less conflict, better service, a happier and fairer workplace and, at the same time, a saving money” (Grey, 2009, p. 66 ). Treating everyone equally and with respect and leading by example is an important factor in the organization's culture. They convey this message not only through their work, but also through their vision. Starbucks continuously informs its employees of the changes they are experiencing. They even encourage their employees to get involved in these changes. A system was involved where employees could actually modify the store in the way they saw fit, with no questions asked by upper management. This system is a constant process. Not only does it create a better and easier work environment, but it also keeps employees engaged and concerned about the store because of the importance they feel in accomplishing these tasks.
