Flannery O'Connor is an influential voice in American literature. He is the beacon of American literature, also a master of short stories. Writer from the South of the United States, we call her style the "Southern Gothic" intimately linked to her region and its grotesque characters. To me, O'Connor's writings also reflect his Catholic faith, considering his moral values. Deeply influenced by good and evil, the theme of redemption through grace and suffering, Flannery O'Connor's work takes us into the heart of humanity's darkness. In Flannery O'Connor we find another key figure: that of the prophet, the marginal, the one different from the "courageous people" and as such thematic of the "grotesque". The "grotesque" in Flannery O'Connor is one of the most discussed topics in literary criticism. A close reading of Flannery O'Connor's “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” one of the best of her short stories, reveals several levels of interpretation. There are various critics of “A Good Man is Hard to Find.” Most of these opinions target the act of the grandmother and the Misfit. The dominant view is that Grandma's final part was one of grace and charity, implying that "A Good Man is Hard to Find" was written to show a transformation in Grandma as the story progresses. At first, she was more concerned with resembling a good Christian than being a faithful Christian. “At lunchtime, they stop at Red Sammy's, a barbecue restaurant, where Grandma complains that “the people are certainly not nice. like they used to,” and Red Sammy agrees: “A good man is hard to find.” In this conversation, the grandmother, narrow-minded and opinionated, repeatedly assures herself that she is a lady,...... in the center of the card... surpassed in history. In the end, she counts that she didn't take the good life and spreads to touch her killer, the Misfit, in a final amnesty and charity. Works Cited Bandy, Stephen C.
