The simple idea of an electronic bomb is to destroy electrical circuits using strong electromagnetic fields. An electronic bomb is a weapon shell that emits an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) of enormous power, capable of permanently disabling electronic systems. An electromagnetic bomb is a weapon rather than simply cutting off electrical power to an area; an electronic bomb would effectively destroy most machines that use electricity. Generators would be hopeless, as would making a phone call and cars wouldn't work. In just a few seconds, an electronic bomb could set an entire city back 200 years. Compton, AH, was the first to propose the theory used in electromagnetic bombs in 1925 for the study of atoms. The development of electromagnetic bombs was based on his discoveries. At the beginning of the 21st century, scientists in the United States and the United Kingdom began developing electron bombs. At the same time, some have warned that terrorists might be able to build their own, but in a much less complicated way. Coils of carbon graphite have been used to generate an electromagnetic pulse, used to build electron bombs. Rockets equipped with carbon graphite were used by US forces in attacks on Iraq in 1991 and 2003. Electronic bombs have recently started to make headlines, but in reality the idea of EMP weapons has been researched and studied for a long time . Between the 1960s and 1980s, the United States was most concerned about the possibility of a nuclear EMP attack. Furthermore, the idea of EMP nuclear weapons research has been around since the 1950s. American tests of a hydrogen bomb produced shocking results in 1958. A test over the Pacific Ocean ended up blowing out streetlights hundreds of miles away in parts of Hawaii. The explosion also destroyed radio equipment in Australia....... middle of paper ......ttp://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/report/1996/apjemp.htm [Accessed May 8, 2011 ]2. Wilson, J., 2001.
