Topic > Importance of Costing System - 1208

Unlike the methods mentioned above, total cost accounting mainly involves the analysis of how a given product or activity can affect the organization's relationships with other entities, or also with the environment (Paladino, 2011). The main advantage of full cost accounting is that it establishes the total cost of production and a clearer picture of a healthy cost of production is determined. However, it does not take into account individual products or processes, just like activity-based costing. As a result, the company may unknowingly suffer product and business losses. Operating under conditions of uncertainty is what most companies don't want to be involved in, as Paladino points out (2011).
