The way an organization's structure is organized depends on the company's strategy and objectives. The organizational structure is hierarchical in nature. It is the specification of the lines of authority and the main tasks of an organization and its subjects. The structure provides information on the main responsibilities and roles assigned to particular elements of the organization. (Organizational Structure, n.d., “Definition” section, paragraph 1-2) Chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, who previously served as Nestlé's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), leads the Board of Directors which is the governing body of the organization. The Council is made up of 14 members. (About us, n.d., “Management” section, paragraph 1.) Each member serves within a specific committee: Audit Committee, Nominations Committee, Remuneration Committee and Chairman and Corporate Governance Committee. (Management, nd, “Board of Directors” section). The next level of organizational structure is the Executive Committee, which is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization. The Council is made up of 13 Council members who regulate and guide various sectors of global business. Paul Bulcke is the current CEO and is responsible for the overall performance of the company. (About us, “Management” section, paragraph 2.) The majority of Nestlé's food and beverage businesses are managed geographically based on various locations. These locations include several areas in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Oceania and Africa. However, there is an exception in some parts of Nestlé's business activities. Nestlé Waters, Nespresso, Nestlé Nutrition, Nestlé Professional and Nestlé Health Science are operated globally.
