Apple treats maritime workers horribly, which is a shame. “Tens of thousands of other unhappy workers had quit, paying long hours, low pay, military-style drills, time constraints, verbal abuse and harsh punishments.” (Hawthorne 93) Many workers are so unhappy and this is their way of life. Some workers even commit suicide because the abuse is excessive. Others suffered serious injuries due to toxic working conditions. Without those workers there would be no production of Apple products, why treat them as if they were worthless? Apple is unethical in treating these workers horribly, they are human beings and deserve the same rights as all other Apple workers. For example, “Wal-Mart has been party to 44 lawsuits in 31 states involving several thousand current and former employees whose wages and hours were tampered with and mistreated” (Muntasser Wiki #5). It's amazing how Apple, and many other multi-billion-dollar companies, will do anything to save money, even if it means giving the worst wages. They pay workers $2 an hour, which is $5.25 less than the average minimum wage in the United States (KPCC).
