Zoos and aquariums are magically exotic places where childhood fantasies flourish through the experience of new sights and sounds. A zoo creates earthly adventures for a child to explore as visions of fantastical animals race through his or her imagination. An aquarium, an attainable representation of the underwater mystery revealed from the depths of the ocean, offers a window into the unknown for the young mind to explore the strange aquatic creatures and alien environment of a water-filled abyss. Zoos and aquariums, also called menageries, are a necessary part of educating the public about living organisms, conducting scientific research, and inspiring younger generations to delve deeper into the natural world. However, around the world, zoos and aquariums are vulnerable targets for men and women who simply see only one side of the zoological coin. Many people would agree that eradicating zoos and aquariums would be an ideal situation since animals should live in their natural environments, but nowhere is there such an idealistic place or world. Major issues for animal facilities, such as zoos and aquariums, range from the ethical issues of captivity to the creatures themselves. Although animals retain a strong reliance on their innate, natural instincts, the way they use their instincts has been demonstrated countless times. In some facilities, engaging in unexpected behavior is highly considered dangerous and often punished accordingly. For example, in the San Francisco Zoo, Tatiana, a tiger, expressed aggression towards a worker in the form of a physical attack, but the incident was isolated because it was motivated by territory protection and was not given much thought.
