If you want to be a creative person, you should stay away from school. Nowadays, the topic of the relationship between innovation and creativity has attracted attention from all aspects of society. In most cases, schools influence innovation. But instead of saying that schools “suppress” creativity, it is more accurate to say that schools “influence” education. First of all, creative ability is controlled by cognitive ability. A person continues to learn things after his birth. People will have higher cognitive abilities if they spend more time learning. To demonstrate the relationship between cognitive ability and creative ability, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania led by Sharon conducted an experiment to test whether reduced cognitive control could be advantageous in some circumstances. The method used in the experiment is called TDCS and allows participants to see everyday objects and invent out-of-the-ordinary uses for these objects. Participants are divided into three groups based on their age and the education they have received in their lives. For example, participants in the first group are selected from elementary schools. The participants in the second group are high school students. Finally, the last group of participants are seniors over the age of 65. The result of the experiment shows that elementary school children apparently have more to offer for out-of-the-ordinary uses. Likewise, high school students do a better job than seniors on the same problem. The experimental result shows that high levels of cognitive control can be a disadvantage in some circumstances, such as in the early stages of development.
