I didn't like writing in high school. Writing is a nightmare for most high school students. They prefer death to writing. I was a bad writer in my class, but then I became one of the top ten best writers in my school. I've discovered that writing is discovering ideas and putting them into words. However, putting ideas into words and discovering new ideas is more difficult than teaching fish to walk. For this reason, I create a guideline for high school students. First, students need to understand grammar and read books critically. Then, they must study the types of writing and write creatively. The first step is to understand the grammar. If you want to be a good writer, you need to understand how to write good sentences. In fact, you need to carefully study all Khmer grammars. You should make a list of grammar because it is easy to learn. You should include a noun, adjective, verb, adverb, pronoun, preposition, and conjunction in your list. Khmer grammar is unique because tense is not important. However, one part of the discussion is very essential. You will need to learn the roles of each part of speech. Many students find grammar difficult because one part of speech has many roles. The list will help you understand the relationship between part of speech and its roles. Next, you will need to learn to use adjectives and adverbs. They are the tools that make your sentences beautiful, precise and strong. Reading is vital to literary material. The focus of Khmer writing and English writing is different. Since Khmer writing is mainly writing novels in the educational curriculum. However, the English writing is very borderline. Keep in mind, don't write in a personal voice. You can give your opinion but you must clearly state why. Even if you use information from the story, you need to motivate. Khmer writing is not the summary of any story. The reason why Khmer writing mainly uses stories as a priority source is because students can learn important lessons and think critically. You should brainstorm before writing, so you can generate lots of ideas. Many students don't brainstorm before writing. As a result, they have very few ideas to write down. The advice I mentioned in the previous paragraphs is my personal experience. This advice may not work for you. However, writing is an art and there are no clear-cut paths to being a good writer. You will have to discover your own paths. I hope these guidelines help you find ways to become a good writer.
