Military Technology Military technology has greatly increased strength, facilitated positioning between world powers, and fostered the development of new military weapons. The term “Survival of the fittest” means that the strong will succeed but the meek will not, this is the case with military technology. The United States has the best technology in the world, so we are the greatest military power. Technology is a very important part of warfare. The technology is driven by the military. The military's run during the Cold War gave rise to some of the greatest technical achievements in human history. Space travel, for example, is the result of the X-plane project. Even the Internet was produced by the military. If we stop investing in military technology, we risk our security. If other nations had more advanced technology than us, they would have more power than us. If that were to happen, we would face the threat of that nation taking over us. Military technology can be divided into five categories. Offensive weapons damage the enemy, while defensive weapons repel offensive attacks. Transportation technology moves soldiers and weapons; communications coordinate the movements of the armed forces; and sensors detect forces and guide weapons. There are many types of technological developments in the military at all times. They range from new aircraft to sophisticated guidance systems. Teams of specialists have been working for years to develop some of our simplest equipment. The daily lives of these people are dedicated to the safety and protection of the citizens of the United States. Aircraft are one of the major areas of progress in the past. In recent years, military aircraft have become more sophisticated in terms of variety, effectiveness and handling techniques. After it was discovered that airplanes could be very useful in warfare, they began to become a necessity of war. After World War II, technological advances in aircraft began. Advancements include stealth, targeting, maneuverability, etc. With stealth technology, many new and extremely effective aircraft have been developed for air warfare. One of the very first stealth aircraft was developed for Operation Dessert Storm. This stealth fighter aircraft was the F-117A. There were many advances in the Middle Ages that we wouldn't consider technological today, but they are. Chain armor was invented to prevent injuries caused by sword fighting, catapults were used to throw objects over castle walls and break down doors. The American Revolution had an impact on technology, the first weapons had just been produced, without this technology we would be nowhere today. In World War I, machine guns were invented by the Germans and then perfected for World War II. Since World War II, there have been so many developments that they cannot even be counted. The future offers good prospects for new technologies in the military field. Many possibilities include unmanned warfare, where all combat will be conducted by robots and computers. Other possibilities include space travel, new fuels, vehicles and more. Military technology has greatly improved our world and put stronger nations at an advantage. From these developments arise many other uses far from what they were originally designed for. Technology exerted the greatest influence.
