Directors and writers should pay close attention to details, content and the portrayal of people in films. The way they describe roles and films influences children's beliefs and thoughts about ethnicities and cultures. A movie called “Breakfast at Tiffany's” from 1961 is a great example that changed the way children think about Asians in real life. Mickey Rooney is an American actor who played an Asian character with yellowface makeup in this film. The character was portrayed as a nerdy Japanese boy with buck teeth. Children who have seen the film may receive the wrong understanding about the Japanese. They would think that all Japanese people are stupid and seem funny like the Japanese character played in the movie. Some people argue that it's all about entertainment and that you don't need to take it seriously because nothing is personal. No matter what the initial intention of the film is, it has a negative effect on children, which is a big problem in a world where different people live together. Wrong stereotypical awareness will become self-perpetuating once it begins to take root in children's minds. Hollywood films misrepresent ethnicities to some extent and this can give citizens incorrect awareness about them
