Good Night and Good Luck showed the parallels between the McCarthy era and the "war on terror". The film relates to today's politics as it has numerous parallels with the events following the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001. In the film the Cold War on communism is a parallel to the "war on terrorism". The witch hunt against communists during the Red Scare was very similar to the terrorist hunt after the September 11 attacks.
