In this essay I will talk about the role of Lady Macbeth. First I will provide a brief summary of Macbeth, discuss the main themes and issues, analyze the text, analyze the character of Lady Macbeth, discuss the relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth, write about Lady Macbeth's strengths and weaknesses, are will discuss whether Lady Macbeth is bad or good, will talk about why Shakespeare created the character Lady Macbeth, will discuss the misogynistic views in the play, will discuss the demonology written by King James and finally will talk about the directors' adoptions. Macbeth was written by William Shakespeare in 1606. Macbeth is about a brave man who receives prophecies from witches that determine his fate. The witches predict that he will become king “hello, Macbeth, henceforth you will be king” (act 1, scene 3). Macbeth decides to make it happen. He then kills King Duncan and then his friend Banquo because the witches had told him that his sons would become kings. Lady Macbeth makes sure these prophecies come true. Both become evil. Lady Macbeth goes mad and commits suicide. At the end of the play King Duncan's son brings an army from England to overthrow him. In the battle they win and Macbeth is killed. The tragedy ends. The main themes and issues are love, betrayal, determination, murder, power, guilt and ambition. The theme of love is shown between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. The theme of betrayal is strongly highlighted when Macbeth betrays his king by killing him. He was known as a person loyal to the king, but he took advantage of the trust and love the king placed in him. Determination on the topic is shown by Macbeth as he is determined to accept the challenge and succeed, which Lady Ma... middle of paper... is only interested in for her own personal gain. Sometimes the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth is at its peak and sometimes it is at its rock bottom. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth feel quite happy after Macbeth becomes king, so they are free from guilt and full of love. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth both freed themselves from the guilt of killing Duncan. They portray themselves as pure evil wrapped in love. Lady Macbeth imagines her hands are covered in blood and then commits suicide “here is the smell of blood again; all the scents of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand. Oh, oh, oh” (act 5, scene 1). The last scene we see of her is very emotional because she made a mistake and from her rise she ultimately lost. Works Cited Shakespeare, William.
