My business project is on Google. The most used and recognized search engines in the world. Google's founders are Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two students at Stanford University, who in 1996 built a search engine called BackRub, which at the time used links to determine the importance of web pages. BackRub later morphed into Google, although BackRub began in 1996. Google was registered as a domain on September 15, 1997, and was incorporated on September 4, 1998. Larry Page was actually a University of Michigan graduate who was considering Stanford , and Sergey was his assigned tour guide. Google comes from the word "googol" which is a mathematical term for the number represented by the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. This was the name used for Larry and Sergey's mission to organize an infinite amount of information on the web. Google was based in Susan Wojcicki's garage and Google's first official employee was Craig Silverstein. Its headquarters, better known as Googolplex, is now located in Mountain View, California since 2004. Google today has a presence in more than forty countries around the world with more than seventy offices in total. Larry Page was Google's original CEO until 2001, but took the title back in April 2011, Eric Schmidt is now the executive chairman, and Andy Bechtolsheim was the first investor to write a $100,000 check to Google even before was considered a company. It has been up and running for fifteen years now. And according to their website their mission is: "To organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." I think their mission is pretty clear, and as a daily Google user, I think they have successfully achieved their mission...halfway through the document...to encourage interactions between Googlers within and across teams and to stimulate conversation about work and play. Each Google location is designed differently, offering creativity and fun at every turn. With the way the age of technology continues to grow, I'm sure we are faced with some cool inventions from Google. One thing that's making news is called Google Glass. Google Glass are glasses that work like a phone. Internet-connected glasses are said to give you directions, let you video chat, shop and do everything you now need to make a portable gadget. I feel like Google has only been around for fifteen years but has so much more to offer. They are known as the largest search engine, the best company to work for and have offices all over the world. I myself am a daily Google user and will continue to be so as long as they are around.
