3. Analysis3.1 Lack of competence and commitment from project leadership Erik Peterson faced a series of difficult situations with Jeff Hardy, a high-level employee of CelluComm, the parent company of GMCT. We initially see an awkward relationship with Jeff Hardy, under whom Peterson had been assigned to work by Ric Jenkins, partly due to the lack of concrete guidelines on the relationship between the two (Sami, 2013). Hardy had very little operational experience, and Peterson felt he was unable to receive constructive guidance from Hardy. As Hardy's subordinate, Peterson should have instead attempted to resolve this issue early on as it was a critical relationship within the GMCT corporation. Consulting Hardy and letting him know about his concerns would have been a more efficient and respectful way to handle the situation. This relationship building would also be critical in addressing Peterson-Hardy communication issues with local municipalities and fire departments. Operant learning theory (Johns & Saks, 2014, p.54) suggests that as a result of this negative consequence, Peterson should be able to improve his interpersonal skills particularly with superiors within the organization by going after you. As Hardy's subordinate, Peterson should have instead attempted to resolve this issue early on as it was a critical relationship within the GMCT company.3.2 Peterson had clashes with superiors early on in the project. Peterson also had conflicts with Scott Green and his assistant Karen Cantor. In his first meeting with Peterson, Cantor made some suggestions on how to run the organization. When Peterson disputed his statement because he believed his suggestions were incorrect. Cantor bec...... middle of paper ...... headquarters employees, Peterson could implement some of their ideas into his plans and give credit to these employees, strengthening future relationships with these credited individuals.Works CitedAdams , John S.
