Choosing a career, for many people, is not an easy task. I have a passion for animals and since I was little, working with animals is everything I have ever dreamed of. Unfortunately there are hundreds of jobs involving animals, which makes my career search a little more complicated. After hours and hours of research I chose two careers that really caught my attention, being a veterinarian and working in an animal rescue center. A veterinarian takes care of the health needs of animals, including a wide range of animals, depending on the size of the animals chosen to work with. If I were to become a veterinarian, I could help so many animals by giving them things like medicine or performing life-saving surgery. To become a vet you need to get a degree in veterinary medicine and a degree would also help my work, but it's actually not necessary to become a vet. I am also required to take and pass the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination to receive a mandatory license. To become a successful vet you need to have a passion for animals, you need good decision making skills to decide what treatments are needed and good interpersonal skills to communicate with the owner and staff etc. as well as manual dexterity and strong problem solving skills . The job outlook is expected to be positive and is expected to experience faster job growth through 2020 than most other occupations requiring at least a master's degree. Average hourly earnings in 2011 were $39.86 and annual earnings were $82,900. Becoming a veterinarian will not be easy by far, but the time, effort and dedication it will take will be worth it because I will save lives or end the suffering of c...... middle of paper... ... business as a veterinarian and if it is successful I can start an animal rescue with the money I earn working as a veterinarian. I could work with rescue organizations to help them with sick animals or for necessary checkups and vaccinations. As a vet, being able to start a rescue would be the best route because I could save more animal lives. this would also help other people who love animals because I could allow them to raise some animals if they want, thus saving even more lives by giving the animals the attention they need. There's a chance this won't work, but I have plans for the future and you can bet I'll stick with it until my dream of saving millions of animals becomes a reality. For me there is no need to choose because I know that if I put in my best effort I can make both careers successful..
