According to a Gallup poll, only 13% of Americans approve of Congress, compared to 41% approval for President Obama and 46% approval for the Supreme Court, and it is easy to see that the Congress is the least popular branch of government. Americans' opinions of most members of Congress have always been more negative than their opinions of their own member. Although, to solve big social problems like immigration, government spending, inequality and global warming, we have Medicare and Social Security, two of the largest programs in Congress still underway. It has reduced the poverty rate among older Americans by more than half and provided seniors with perhaps the most generous health benefits in the world.
