If drugs heal a person's corporeality, then law is medicine for society, maintaining the process of social order. If religion rectifies the soul, then law is religion for society, shaping people's morality and leading to a harmonious society. Law is the "operating system" that shapes society! But it is also influenced by people, politics and social institutions, thus reflecting society as a whole! The diverse and multifaceted nature of law, but also its inseparable relationship that permeates almost all aspects of society, attracts me and leads me to study law at university level. I also greatly enjoyed enlightening texts such as "What about Law?", and gained insight into the study of law as an academic subject with the use of legal reasoning to reach a conclusion. I also gained a deeper understanding of the seven core areas of English law, and the field of human rights particularly caught my attention for its paradoxical relationship with the application of criminal law to have both a defensive and offensive role. This describes the complex but fascinating nature of law. Furthermore, the controversy over human rights for the elderly also aroused my sympathy as it reflects my observations on current events: behind Hong Kong's affluent image, the aging population and widening income gap shed light also on the lack of assistance and protection mechanisms for the elderly. elderly people. I was an eyewitness to seniors picking up trash and dealing with homelessness. Reading “Protection and Gaps in Human Rights Legislation” taught me that older people can also face multiple age-related discriminations, which make the situation worse. This screams the need for reform! The elderly should also be included in the category for special care and attention......middle of paper......administrative competition, and also a 3rd place for table tennis. Both improved my communication and teamwork skills, but also found a balance between my academic and social life, and I would continue to maintain this balance while at university. Throughout the course, I strived to achieve high academic standards and was rewarded with a 75% Fee Relief scholarship. I am committed to continuing to invest time in my studies and studying in the UK offers the opportunity to gain a higher education and qualifications whilst enjoying a full social life. Personally, this also provides an ideal career prospect in Hong Kong for their similar legal system based on common law. I would welcome the opportunity to study a law degree and believe I have the appropriate skills to meet the challenge and workload involved, making a positive contribution to university life.
