Vera Claythorne is a gym teacher in "And Then There Were None". He is the character who kills Phillip Lombard and ends up hanging himself. She is athletic and emotionally unfit for society. He is very intelligent, that's why he survives so long. After Vera kills Phillip, she hangs herself. I chose to analyze her because she is only one of two women in the book. Vera is a supporting character because she is not the protagonist, but she is still important. Vera Claythorne killed Mr. Lombard, and then killed herself, this is an important event. Vera was not the main character like Judge Wargrave. Vera is smart, athletic, a good citizen, brave and intelligent. Furthermore, Vera is a murderer, she is evil, defenseless, fearful and depressed. Mrs. Claythorne is athletic because she is a gym teacher. She is afraid because she thinks someone will kill her after killing Phillip Lombard. Vera's aim is to finish the last line of the poem: “A little Indian boy left all alone; He went out and hanged himself and then there was none left.
