British Petroleum Oil Company (BP PLC) Introduction:British Petroleum Oil Company (BP PLC) incorporated on 14 April 1909 and formally known as Anglo-Persian Oil Company, Ltd is an integrated oil and gas company headquartered in London, England. In 1935, the Anglo-Persian Oil Company renamed its company the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, Ltd. (AIOC), after requesting the Iranian imperial Shah, Rezā Shāh, that international communities refer to Persia as “Iran.” Created primarily to finance an oil concentration granted by the Persian government to a British investor, William Knox D'Arcy, the AIOC successfully drilled several oil wells and refined several crude oils which would later become very important aspects in the world's refinery system of oil. In 1953, after a brief three-year recession, the AIOC subsequently allied itself with other oil companies, thus increasing its involvement in the oil and gas industries. However, shortly after 1954, the company renamed its company again to British Petroleum Company Limited, then to British Petroleum Company PLC in 1982, and finally, after the merger with Amoco in 1998, the company took the name BP Amoco before taking on the name of BP Amoco. its 2000 name is BP PLC. (BP PLC-British Corporation). Much like the Rockefeller Oil Company in the late 1800s and early 1900s, BP PLC, a vertically integrated company, operates in all areas of the oil and gas industry, including production, refining, exploration, marketing, distribution, production of energy and petrochemical products. However, although it also has activities in renewable energy, wind energy and biofuels, its focus is on two segments: exploration and production, and refining and commercialization.
