The United States needs a change and that change should be the legalization of marijuana. Doing so could save our country in many ways. It could lower the crime rate. from people who sell it or from people who get in trouble for possession of marijuana. It is also one of the least dangerous drugs to the public compared to other non-legalized drugs. Marijuana should be legalized in the rest of the states because it would reduce crime rates, generate revenue through taxation of the substance, and is less dangerous as a drug than some of the sedatives out there. Not only would it lower crime rates, but it would also save taxpayers money. The legalizing state would get all the tax money from the sale of medical marijuana at dispensaries. Selling weed to the public would be a gold mine for the state because of all the revenue generated from the fee for selling marijuana in stores. As CNNMoney said “Colorado earned $184 million in marijuana taxes” (CNNMoney). The government shouldn't waste money stopping people from selling hemp. All in all, looking into it, marijuana should be legalized in the rest of the states because it would lower criminal rates, could get a lot of tax money and also save money, and is a less dangerous drug than some of the sedatives out there.
