Technology has steadily improved over the decades, and has now improved to the point that it has become a part of a human's life. Nowadays people can no longer imagine living without technology, especially college students who are always in front of their phones and laptops during classes. This leads to so-called multitasking, or the ability to deal with more than one task at the same time. Multitasking has been popularized by students, and especially college students who think they can actually do it. Unfortunately, according to Digital Nation: Life on the Virtual Frontier, after testing students who thought they were brilliant at multitasking, the results showed that they are terrible at every aspect of multitasking; consequently, it is unsuccessful. According to The Dangers of Multitasking, the disadvantages of multitasking outweigh its advantages (Davies 39). Multitasking students can miss out on a lot of necessary information they really need to pass tests and understand lessons when they multitask during class, which causes them to get a low grade on tests. “Many experienced multitaskers have experienced an unexpected thing when, for example, their email service was down for a period of time. They found that they were actually more productive during that period of time” (Multitasking 758). This means that multitaskers are more productive when they focus on one task; so students will do better on tests and in school in general if they stop or reduce multitasking during lessons. Furthermore, “The human brain works more efficiently on a single task and for extended periods of time rather than intermittently or alternating” (Multitasking 758). So, this doesn't mean that... middle of paper... at multitasking I wasn't successful, but rather that I wasn't successfulWorks CitedDavies, Frances. “The dangers of multitasking: Numerous studies have shown that humans are not designed to handle multiple tasks and this applies to multitasking in the workplace as well as in our daily lives.
