Topic > The dark side of fast food - 2516

The frenetic pace of life today does not give people the opportunity to eat peacefully. The replacement of traditional foods with ready-made ones is the result of the general intensification of work. At the moment people are generally under pressure. Therefore, fast food seems to adapt to the pace of modern life. However, nutritionists argue that fast food is not beneficial for health and causes health problems such as diabetes, heart disease and obesity problems. In the United States between 1960 and 1991 the number of overweight American adults, whose mass is equal to 120%, increased from 25 to 35%, while between 1970 and 1991 the percentage of adolescents grew from 10% to 20% (James K. Binkley 1997). Furthermore, these indices are increasing simultaneously with the development of fast food, one aspect is the food delivery system, a service widespread throughout the world, which leads the population to live a passive lifestyle and contributes to the acquisition of obesity . In the period between 1980 and 1990 the percentage of money spent on food prepared outside the home increased from 26% to 37% (Robert W. Jeffery and A. Simone. 1998). Furthermore, a significant minority of children suffer from obesity. As fast food sales grow, the quality of health worsens. There are currently around 30,000 McDonald's restaurants in 120 countries filled with regular customers (BBC. Worldservice.com). Furthermore, there are many other similar companies, which means that the fast food industry is thriving. Currently, humanity has a significant problem with people's health due to poor nutrition, which consists of different types of fast food. These are therefore... half of the paper... possible solutions to stabilize the situation and ensure a healthy lifestyle without fast food. This involves putting an end to the use of harmful ingredients in food, decreasing and limiting the number of fast food restaurants, reducing the time spent advertising on television and reducing the total amount of banners and websites of these fast food companies . Furthermore, it is believed that these methods will improve people's current difficulties related to fast food consumption and addiction, and provide a healthy lifestyle (O'Rourke. 2005). In conclusion, in today's situation, humanity and especially the governments of countries must strive for active life without fast food and to stop fast food addiction, due to which all these terrible things like obesity occur in children and adults, heart disease and diabetes mellitus.
