This semester I had the opportunity to observe a first grade classroom for my Introduction to Teaching class. During my observations, I saw how the teacher instilled qualities such as patience in his students. When one of the younger students began to display aggressive and impatient qualities, such as pushing to get to the front of the line, the teacher taught self-control by rewarding the child when he displayed this virtuous quality. At that moment, I learned that a teacher is responsible for much more than just teaching the subjects during the lesson, but he is responsible for ensuring that his students become responsible, kind and honest.
