I got the latest edition of Nike shoes and the best baseball bat. My parents did everything they could, I think, to make up for all the years they couldn't. I must confess that I took advantage of our new situation. What teenager wouldn't? When I turned 16, my mom and dad bought me my first car. Now, I was that kid who had everything he wanted, except at the cost of wasted time. My father was not absent due to the growing demands of running his own business. He was unable to attend all my sporting events, family functions and holidays. When you own your own business, most of your time is spent growing and developing that business to be successful. In my opinion, this was definitely a downside of being self-employed. Yes, I now have the good things in life, but at what cost? My father's time. My father has been running his own business for six years and due to increasing pressure, he has aged. He looks more tired and tired. He is often stressed and takes it out on those around him, but I understand why. There is a lot of pressure to provide financially for your family. I am very proud of my father and everything he has done for our family. There are times when I thought it would be easier for me to work for my father and continue the family business, but my parents are adamant that I go to college and get my diploma.
