A long-polarizing issue, the balance between civil liberties and national security has consistently accompanied America's pursuit of happiness. Civil liberties are defined as rights of every individual that serve to protect such individuals, by law, from unjust government interference and include all interferences that may violate certain rights. Incidentally, America has succumbed to such violations throughout its lifetime, some early in its history, and others repeating now with vestiges of the greater violations of liberty that had reigned before. A much more recent example, the terrorist attacks of September 11, shook our nation and brought with them government reform that many had never seen before. And with these government reforms, America began to fight back after more and more information about these unjust crimes began to leak out from both the prolific media and government workers themselves.
